Glenstal Abbey Monastery Library chooses Koha LMS supported by Interleaf

As part of a rationalisation of IT services, Glenstal Abbey Monastery Library has contracted with Interleaf Technology to take over the support and hosting of its Koha system.

Koha Library Management System

With the Koha LMS, library staff access to the system is completely web-based: Searching, circulation, cataloguing, serials and reports, acquisitions and EDI are all performed using a web browser.

Gregory Ashe, IT Manager said: “After several years of maintaining Koha in house we can now enjoy an enhanced level of support with the added security and peace of mind that our library system is being hosted and maintained by Interleaf.”

Charles Quain, Director at Interleaf Technology added: “We are delighted to be working with Glenstal Abbey to support their LMS. Having a hosted implementation will free up internal resources from managing the system, while allowing the institution benefit from the robust technology available from a hosting service. Our scaled support options also means that the library is not paying for levels of support that they don’t need.”

Glenstal Abbey

Glenstal Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in County Limerick on the south-west coast of Ireland. The Abbey, which is dedicated to Saints Joseph and Columba, is home to a community of monks.

The library collection has grown steadily from its humble origins in 1927 and is now one of the largest private libraries in Ireland holding approximately 78,000 volumes, manuscripts and nearly 100 journal runs. The focus of the library is primarily theological but it contains substantial holdings in the areas of Irish history, Irish literature, biography and art. It also houses a collection of antiquarian books ranging in date from the 15th to the 19th centuries, as well as the monastery archives.
