Interleaf Technology are delighted to announce that their annual Library Seminar, "Technology in Libraries", will take place in the Montpelier Suite of the Ashling Hotel on Parkgate Street in Dublin on 26th September 2016. Car parking is available at the hotel and the Ashling is on the Luas Red line.
This year we are delighted to announce that the keynote speaker will be Joann Ransom, formerly with the Horowhenua Library Trust in New Zealand, where Koha was developed in 1999, where she was CEO for the last 6 years.
The seminar will give library professionals the opportunity to see several blue-chip library technologies in action:
Koha Open Source Library Management System, now with 25 sites in Ireland in corporate, academic and special libraries
Library Query Database - an application that assists libraries and research desks to build a database of library queries and provide statistics and reports on the data recorded,
A brief overview of Murdoch's Irish Legal Companion, an online legal dictionary and set of other resources which is now published online by Interleaf and will be of great interest to legal departments within organisations and to legal practices. The product behind MILC is the Rocket NXT software which can index 4 terabytes of documents across a variety of material types and provide instant powerful searching, simple interface and online access across all devices,
Explorit Everywhere - a Federated Search engine that will search your library catalogue and online resources, live, with up to the minute results, customised interface, from Deep Web Technologies, specialists in Searching technology
Omeka - Open Source Digital Repository - a really simple tool for building a repository of all your digital assets, images, audio, video. Simple Catalogue interface with Dublin Core support. Ad Hoc Exhibits of items from any collection. No technical expertise required to manage and build collections of digital material.
Lightning talk of recent projects that Interleaf have been involved in, with more technologies that may be of interest to delegates
We also plan to have facilitate a meeting of the Koha User Group after the seminar for users of Koha. This is also an opportunity for those considering or interested in Koha to meet current users of Koha.
