Delivering on its goal of providing an improved experience for staff and students using the library and information service, the Respond! College has chosen the Koha open source library management system to automate its library service. Interleaf Technology has been contracted to implement the Koha system and to provide on-going support services.
Koha Library Management System
With the Koha LMS, library staff access to the system is completely web-based: Searching, circulation, cataloguing, serials and reports, acquisitions and EDI are all performed using a web browser.
The online catalogue offers an excellent search capability and a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to evolve and expand to meet the changing needs of its user base.
The Respond! College
Mairéad Mullaney, Librarian, said “After careful consideration, Respond! Housing Association selected Koha, a cloud-based and open source system, as its Library Management System (LMS). This system has been selected to improve the efficiency of sharing library information across three sites in Ireland; Dublin, Cork and Waterford and to enhance the student’s learning experience by providing easier access to Respond!’s information resources.”
Charles Quain, Director at Interleaf Technology added: “We are delighted to be working with Respond! College. Open Source Technologies and hosted solutions allow institutions with limited resources access to state-of-the art technology while achieving value for money. Our scaled support options means that libraries are not paying for levels of support that they don’t need.”
